Earth Day 2020 Community Clean-Up

Today, April 22, 2020 is the 50th annual Earth Day! Happy Earth Day!

The modern environmental movement was largely influenced by the publication of Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring in 1962. Gaining momentum and recognition through congressional and university efforts, the movement went National in 1970 and the first Earth Day was declared.

It wasn't until 1990 that it expanded internationally, leading to the 1992 United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Earthday.org has announced that the theme of this year's Earth Day is CLIMATE ACTION

More than a billion people are expected to participate worldwide.

Do you want to join them? What can we do to help?

Our challenge to you is to join us by organizing your own in a community clean-up. You can make a difference in your hometown and it all adds up to a collective impact across the world. We have one world to live on, and it is important to be proper stewards of our home. We owe it to nature to protect it, conserve it, and restore it where we have harmed it.

The world needs a hug right now, and it is always safe to hug a tree.

Have fun, be safe, and be thankful for all that the Earth provides!

Visit cleanup.earthday.org to learn more about the effort, and remember:

Clean up safely on your own or in small groups when possible.

Every action counts!

Dispose of litter properly and always recycle where possible.

Do you plan to participate? We want to see your before and after pictures!
